HCA Tuition Reduction Incentive Program - Policies and Procedures

T.R.I.P. is being offered to promote the education of students at Highlands Christian Academy, therefore the monies credited to your family’s account number must be directed to one of the designated account options listed below:

• Credited to your tuition account
• Credited to another family’s tuition account of your choosing
• Credited to Highlands Christian Academy’s Annual Knight Fund

If your child(ren) no longer attends HCA for any reason and you have a balance in your T.R.I.P. account, the earnings held under your family number can be applied to one of the above listed accounts.  Any unclaimed earnings will be distributed to the Knight Fund.

HCA T.R.I.P. will have four payouts annually toward your designated tuition account or the Knight Fund.

An account number will be assigned to each family which will appear on your personal T.R.I.P. ordering envelope.  Checks are to be made payable to HCA with T.R.I.P. written in the memo section.  These checks are non-tax deductible because you receive an equivalent dollar value item for your check.  Cash and credit cards are not accepted.

Orders must be received by 2pm Mondays in order to be distributed the next Friday (2 weeks).
The percentage earned by participating families will be tracked throughout the year by our T.R.I.P. coordinators.  The accrued amounts will be reflected on your tuition statement.  In the event you earn enough money to pay off your current year’s tuition, your earning will apply to the following year or be distributed to HCA’s Knight Fund.
During the summer months of June and July, certificates can still be ordered.  Any questions about T.R.I.P. should be directed to the T.R.I.P. coordinators.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Family earnings will never be distributed as cash.  If your earnings should ever exceed your tuition balance, you may apply it to future tuition for your family, direct it to the account of another family, or post it to the Knight Fund.  If written notice is not received within 30 days from the time your child(ren) leave Highlands Christian Academy, we will direct your earnings to the Knight Fund.

The disclaimer section of the Family Enrollment Form must be signed before certificates will be released to your student.  These forms will be kept on file.  Your child will receive only the envelope with certificates ordered under your family number.

These gift certificates are just like cash.  Once your order is picked up, neither Highlands Christian Academy nor the T.R.I.P. committee is responsible for lost, stolen, or misplaced certificates.
Anyone writing a non-sufficient fund check will be subject to the financial policies of HCA.  The HCA business office will handle all correspondence related to NSF.

The Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (T.R.I.P.) offered by Highlands Christian Academy uses the services of an organization called the Great Lakes Scrip Center in Kentwood, Michigan. This organization purchases gift/merchant certificates in large quantities at a discount, allowing participating organizations to sell them at face value, thereby raising funds for families of our school. The “rebate” ranges from 2 to 25 percent of the certificate value. Our families receive 80% of the “rebate total” while the T.R.I.P. program will retain 20% of the “rebate total” to help offset the cost of administering this program. All percentages are subject to change without notice. There will also be a one time enrollment fee of $5 per family.
