HCA offers an exciting drama program including improvisation, classical, and contemporary scripted performances. The Theater Department produces two main performances each school year – a dinner/dessert theater in the fall and a musical each spring. Alongside these performances, our Thespian troupes perform two One-Acts each year on campus, one from the Junior High Troupe and one from the High School. These One-Acts are then performed at local and state Thespian competitions. Productions include students from Elementary, Junior High, and High School.
At HCA, we believe drama and theater enhances the academic and social development of students by providing opportunities to explore and develop skills related to public speaking, dance, choreography, voice projection, and music. The dramatic arts contribute to education by stimulating imagination, creativity, reasoning, expression, and communication. In addition, theater helps students become well-rounded citizens by promoting teamwork, organization, commitment, and service.
Recent productions at HCA have included Annie, Meet Me in St. Louis, Murder in the Knife Room, Little Women, Peter Pan, and Disney’s High School Musical.
